Pinaalalahanan ng obispo ang mga botante na mag-isip, magnilay at magdasal bago bumoto sa ika-9 ng Mayo, 2016.
Ayon kay Boac Bishop Marcelino Maralit, dapat maging malaya sa pagpili at tingnang mabuti ang iboboto na hindi nakabatay sa popularidad at idinidikta ng iba.
“Una please think about your votes, when I say think, stop.. pause… look at our candidates, not just choose for popularity what other people are telling you. It’s basically you, thinking your power,” payo ni Bishop Maralit
Iginiit ng Obispo na mahalaga ding mayroong pagninilay sa pagpili ng iboboto na sikaping makita ang sitwasyon ng bansa at anong lider ang kailangan.
“Second, reflect. When I say reflect look at the situation of our country, because the way you should vote is the way you see our country also if you see our country needs a leader who is morally upright then choose from among them a morally upright leader,’ pahayag ni Bishop Maralit sa Radio Veritas.
Sinabi ng obispo na ang pinaka-importante ay pananalangin na makapili ng wasto at tamang kandidato para sa pangangailangan ng mga Filipino.
“Third one is pray, dapat una ito pero ipahuli niyo na because after thinking and reflection baka God had another thing for you to realize so pray. When I say pray, pray for everybody, pray for the candidates, pray for yourself so you can make of a wise decision on choosing who would be the best for country and even for our towns and municipalities.” paalala ng Obispo.
